ABOUT THE PROJECT

Digital citizenship is crucial in our increasingly connected world, yet young individuals often find themselves unprepared to navigate complex digital landscapes responsibly. Traditional educational tools are not always effective in engaging the digital generation, who spend a lot of time online, where they face both opportunities and challenges.
As digital technologies transform how we interact, learn, and engage with the world, it becomes essential to integrate effective digital citizenship education. However, existing resources often fail to reach young learners because they lack engagement and do not address the complexities of digital interactions in a holistic way.
The “DigiCity” project harnesses the immersive and interactive power of games to teach digital citizenship effectively. This initiative enables youngsters to acquire the skills they need to behave responsibly online, focusing on privacy, safety and civic participation through a game-based approach.
"DigiCity" combines narrative-driven games and educational content to create an engaging learning environment that reflects real-world digital challenges. This approach not only makes learning about digital citizenship more engaging but also ensures that the lessons learned are more likely to be applied in real-world scenarios.
The project will produce a whole package of resources, including a digital citizenship curriculum, an interactive video game, a trainer's manual and scenario guide, and a reproducible escape room kit for use in schools and community centres to provide practical learning experiences.
All the project outputs, including the game and teaching materials, will be tested by educators and learners (aged 15-25) across Europe to ensure their quality, effectiveness and relevance. The results of these tests will be used to refine the resources, ensuring that they meet the educational needs of our stakeholders.
